RATES
I base my proofreading rates for most materials on receiving standard manuscript pages:
- 12-point Times New Roman font;
- Double spaced with one-inch margins; and
- Approximately 250 words per page.
For works of up to approximately 2500 words (ten pages or less), I’ll typically charge $.025 per word. Work of this length will usually be completed within five to seven business days.
For works of eleven or more pages (anything over approximately 2500 words), I’ll typically charge $.01 per word (e.g., $600 for a 60,000-word/240-page novel). I’ll estimate and negotiate turnaround times for longer work, dependent upon actual length and applicable deadlines.
Depending on the complexity of a project, these per-word rates may reasonably vary. I may also negotiate an additional fee for projects which require an expedited turnaround time.
I’ll estimate and negotiate rates for projects with specialized formatting and other needs such as screenplays and stage plays on a per-manuscript basis.

PAYMENTS
You’ll receive a first invoice after we agree on the scope of work to be done, and a link to make payment will be part of the invoice. For all projects, I require at least a 50% up-front deposit based on our initial fee agreement. (You may of course pay in full if you choose.) I will not begin work until I receive your deposit.
As soon as I complete your job, you’ll receive a final invoice. Any remaining payment will be due when I deliver your finalized work to you.
I currently accept payments only through PayPal. You may need a PayPal account of your own to make your payment.
